The year ahead starts tomorrow, and we’ve already been thinking about how to get ready to make 2025 our best year yet! Not only do we plan for success at Integrated, our team members have different ways they visualize and set themselves up for success in their personal lives too.
Start Small to Plan the Year Ahead
Of course, there’s the old stand-by for success in the New Year: eating black-eyed peas. This tradition dates back to the Civil War when resources were scarce. They weren’t considered as a food choice in the 1800s, but out of necessity they became a staple representing fortune and prosperity.
Another simple way a member of our team likes to set their sights on the New Year is to focus on the word of the year. The word of the year for 2025 is likely to be announced after the New Year, but past years’ words reflected culture stand-outs, newly invented words and world events. This year’s word will no doubt be memorable.
Create Your New Year by Reflecting on Last Year
One of our team loves creating a time capsule of the past year. They like to memorialize the events and objects that made the year memorable. Time capsules became popular around the 1930s, but the first recorded time capsule in the United States was the 1876 Century Safe at the Centennial exposition in Philadelphia.
Another great way to start the New Year is by setting goals. The easiest way to achieve those goals is to break the big ones into smaller, actionable micro-goals. Those are often easier to bite off and handle. One team member likes to then create a vision board to bring those goals to life. She hangs the vision board in her office to constantly remind her of her dreams for the year.
Resolve to Succeed in the Year Ahead
Everyone’s favorite way to plan for 2025, though, seems to be tried-and-true New Year’s Resolutions. This practice can be traced back in literature to the 1600s. Although by the 1800s, the practice of making resolutions and soon breaking them was satirized. At that time, people used the month of December up to New Year’s Eve to misbehave. And New Year’s Resolutions became a way to wipe the slate clean.
Whatever your plan for the year ahead in 2025, we wish you all the success in the world. May your business life as well as your personal life be as wonderful as your plan.
