As we stand on the cusp of a new year, it’s time to set intentions and resolutions for positive change. We asked the Integrated team to share their favorite resolutions for the new year and how they’re going to start taking steps to get there. Among the resolutions that promise transformative results, “getting outside more” takes center stage. With the nature of our jobs being inside at a desk, we all agreed that we can use more connection with nature!
Get Outside More
One of our team members is committing to a weekly nature walk, exploring nearby parks and trails to immerse themselves in the soothing embrace of the outdoors. They also plan to organize a monthly hiking excursion with friends, fostering that connection with nature and encouraging meaningful time spent with others.
Resolution to Practice Mindfulness
To prioritize mental health, one team member is incorporating a ten-minute mindfulness meditation session into their morning routine. Additionally, they have enrolled in a local mindfulness workshop, which will help provide a supportive community for their journey towards stress reduction.
Cultivate Healthy Eating Habits
This was a popular resolution. Several of the team have decided to revamp their grocery list to include more of a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, ensuring that each meal is a nutritional powerhouse. And several of us have decided to dedicate Sunday afternoons to meal prep, making it easier to stick to a wholesome and balanced diet throughout the week.
Find Joy in Exercise
Some people hate exercising, but one of our team has discovered the joy of dancing. So they’ve enrolled in a weekly dance class to stay active in a way that they say brings genuine happiness. Another of us has committed to participating in a local charity run or two next year. They’re turning exercise into a meaningful and community-oriented activity. Resolutions to walk more or take the stairs instead of the elevator were also popular.
We Love This Resolution: Prioritize Relationships
One team member is doubling down on scheduling regular virtual hangouts with friends who live far away. This way they ensure that distance doesn’t hinder their bond. Additionally, another team member is starting a monthly potluck dinner with local friends. Their goal is to strengthen their connections with others through shared meals and laughter.
Embrace Lifelong Learning
It’s never too late to learn something new. One member of the Integrated Advisors Network team started learning a new language through online platform Duolingo. They’re dedicating a few minutes each day to expanding their horizons. Also, one team member joined a book club. They are creating a space for themselves to have intellectual discussions and continuous learning with like-minded individuals. Others are starting a FunEd class at their local community college.
Resolve to Prioritize Rest
Work life balance is super important to our team. So to establish healthy sleep patterns a few of the team has decided to implement a technology curfew an hour before bedtime. This allows their minds to unwind from the work day. Others are including reading a book at bedtime. And some are practicing gentle stretching to signal to their bodies that it’s time to wind down.
New Year’s Resolutions Can Have a Positive Impact
As we collectively step into the New Year, these resolutions, paired with specific actions, offer a holistic approach to our team’s well-being. Let’s continue to prioritize nature, mental health, nutrition, exercise, relationships, learning and sleep. Then we can create a roadmap for a healthier and more fulfilling life in 2024. May this year be a chapter of positive growth, self-discovery and the joy of a fresh start for all of us.
